Our Fun Weekend!

I didn't take any pictures but wanted to share our fun weekend. Saturday morning we went to the Farmer's Market in downtown Omaha (Old Market). We bought fresh broccoli, cheese, baklava, snap peas, homemade root beer, sausage and blue cheese bread. The blue cheese bread was soooo good it didn't even make it home. We gobbled it all up in the car.

After that we stopped at the Bellevue Berry Farm to pick some strawberries. We picked 4 1/2 pounds and Mileena only had 5 little strawberries in her bucket. She just ate them as she picked them. I don't blame her, they look so good and they're hard to resist. When we got home, Pete made strawberry lemonade and I made 2 loaves of strawberry bread and strawberry shortcakes.

Sunday we drove to David City, about 2 hours east of Omaha, for the Dobesh family reunion. We had lunch and saw my aunts, uncles, cousins, grandma, parents, great aunts, great uncles, 2nd and 3rd cousins, etc... There were probably 50 of us there at the reunion. When my great grandma was still alive, we'd meet in Seward and there would be 100 of us or more at the reunions. It was fun and nice to see everyone.

That evening we went to a birthday pool party for Mileena's friends. They had a slide and diving board in the deep end and the kids got life jackets to go down the slide or dive. Mileena loved the slide, she must have gone down at least a dozen times with her dad and even once all by herself (dad was treading water just below to catch her). She also tried the diving board a few times with dad waiting below, but she was scared. She would sit down on the board and just scoot off the edge. It was cute. Egan got in the pool for his first time ever. He was in a baby floatie and kicked his legs and put his arms in the water. He absolutely loved being in the water. After swimming for a few hours, we had cupcakes and the frosting was so dark blue that it dyed our mouths and tongues.

We had a busy and fun weekend. Next time I'll make sure to bring the camera.
